A load cell (or loadcell) is a transducer which converts force into a measurable electrical output. Although there are many varieties of loadcells, strain gauge load cells are the most commonly used type which is comprised of a solid metal body on which strain gauges have been secured to form a wheatstone bridge which delivers mV/V output.
Load cell output: = (Power supply * Rated output) * Load / Capacity
Rated output of flange type compression load cell FFA is around 2.0mV/V.
Power supply of cylindrical force sensor FFA is normally within 3-15V.
Load / Capacity is within 0-1.
So the output range of column type load cell FFA is normaly within -30mV...+30mV for tension and compression force measurement.
Example one: Flange Type Tension Compression Force Transducer FFA-5kN with 2.0mV/V rated output powered by 3.3V DC,the output range is -6.6mV...+6.6mV.
Example two: Tension/Compression Load Cell FFA-2kN with 2.0mV/V rated output powered by 10V DC,the output range is -20mV...+20mV.
A loadcell signal conditioner can be used to convert mV signal into 0-5V/0-10V/4-20mA for easy signal processing.
Example one: Tension And Compression Force Transducer FFA-2kN working with amplifier FSC(-10-10V)-24V, the force-voltage relationship will be 0-2kN compression force VS 0-10V output, 0-2kN tension force VS 0-(-10V) output.
Example two: Pull And Push Load Cell FFA-5kN working with amplifier FSC(4-12-20mA)-24V,the force-current relationship will be 0-5kN compression force VS 12-20mA output, 0-5kN tension force VS 12-4mA output.
