A load cell (or loadcell) is a transducer which converts force into a measurable electrical output. Although there are many varieties of loadcells, strain gauge load cells are the most commonly used type which is comprised of a solid metal body on which strain gauges have been secured to form a wheatstone bridge which delivers mV/V output.
Output signal of load cell FCFK:
Load cell output: = (Power supply * Rated output) * Load / Capacity
Rated output of Miniature Flange Load Cell FCFK is normally around 2.0mV/V.
Power supply of Micro Compression Force Sensor FCFK is normally within 3-15V.
Load / Capacity is within 0-1.
So the output range of Compression Type Force Transducer FCFK is normally within 0…+30mV.
Example one: Miniature Compression Load Cell FCFK-2lb with 2.0V/V sensitivity powered by 5V DC,the output range is 0mV...+10mV.
Example two: Miniature Flanged Load Cell FCFK-5lb with 2.0mV/V rated output powered by 10V DC,the output range is -0mV...+20mV.
The mV/V output from the wheatstone bridge sometimes can hardly be processed directly, a signal conditioner can be used with the load cell to deliver 0~5V, 0-10V or 4-20mA output.
Example one: Micro Compression Load Cell FCFK-10lb working with amplifier FSC(0-10V)-24V,the Load-Voltage relationship will be 0-10lb compression force VS 0-10V output, which is linear regardless of the measurement error, 1V output corresponds to 1lb compression load, 2V output corresponds to 2lb compression load, and so on.
Example two: Miniature Thrust Force Load Cell FCFK-20lb working with amplifier FSC(4-20mA)-24V,the Force-Current relationship will be 0-20lb compression force VS 4-20mA output, which is linear regardless of the measurement error, 4mA output corresponds to “0” load, 5.6mA output corresponds to 2lb thrust force, 12mA output corresponds to 10lbf thrust force, and so on.
