A load sensor is a transducer that converts a load or force acting on it into electronic signal which is proportional to the load(or force) being applied.The measured load or force causes deformation of the measuring element(elastic body),the bonded strain gauge deforms accordingly which will cause the resistance change of the wheatstone bridge,under constant power supply,the output signal between Sig+ and Sig- will change proportionally,thus the load/force can be measured by measuring the output signal from the load cell.
Load cell output: = (Power supply * Rated output) * Load / Capacity
Rated output is normally within 1mV/V~3mV/V.
Power supply is normally within 3-15V.
Load / Capacity is within 0-1.
So the load cell output signal is normally within 0-45mV(-45mV...+45mV for bidirectional load cell).
Example one: 2.0mV/V load cell with 10V power supply,the output range is 0~20mV (-20mV...+20mV for bidirectional sensor).
Example two: 1.0mV/V load cell with 5V power supply,the output range is 0~5mV (-5mV...+5mV for bidirectional sensor).
Load cell + Signal amplifier:
Load cell normally outputs -30mV...+30mV which sometimes cannot be recognized by signal processing units directly,so signal conditioner is introduced to convert mV signal into 0-5V/0-10V/4-20mA for easy signal processing.
Example: 10kg compression load cell working with 0-10V amplifier,the load-output relationship will be 0-10kg load VS 0-10V output,it is linear within the error range.
