A Force Sensor is a transducer that converts mechanical load into mV signal proportional to the applied force. The acting force causes deformation of the measuring element, the bonded strain gage deforms accordingly which will cause the resistance change of the wheatstone bridge, under constant power supply, the output signal between Sig+ and Sig- will change proportionally, thus the load/force can be measured by measuring the output signal from the transducer.
Load cell output: = (Power supply * Rated output) * Load / Capacity
Rated output of Flange Load Cell FFA is normally around 2.0mV/V.
Power supply of Flange Mounted Loadcell FFA is normally within 3-15V.
Load / Capacity is within 0-1.
So the output range of Flange Type Force Sensor FFA is normally within 0…+30mV(-30mV...+30mV for Pull And Press Force Measurement).
Example one: Flanged Load Cell FFA-500N with 2.0mV/V sensitivity powered by 5V DC,the output range is -10mV...+10mV.
Example two: Tension Compression Load Cell FFA-1000N with 1.95mV/V rated output powered by 10V DC,the output range is -19.5mV...+19.5mV.
The mV/V output from the wheatstone bridge sometimes can hardly be processed directly, a signal conditioner can be used with the load cell to deliver -5~5V, 0-10V or 4-20mA output.
Example one: Flange Mounted Traction Force Sensor FFA-1kN working with amplifier FSC(0-10V)-24V,the Force-Voltage relationship will be 0-1000N tension force VS 0-(-10V) output,which is linear regardless of the measurement error, 1V output corresponds to 100N traction load, 2V output corresponds to 200N tension load, and so on.
Example two: Flange Type Tension Load Cell FFA-2kN working with amplifier FSC(4-20mA)-24V,the Force-Current relationship will be 0-2000N tension force VS 4-12mA output,which is linear regardless of the measurement error, 4mA output corresponds to “0” load, 5.6mA output corresponds to 200N traction load, 12mA output corresponds to 1kN tension load, and so on.
