A load cell (or loadcell) is a transducer which converts force into a measurable electrical output. Although there are many varieties of loadcells, strain gauge load cells are the most commonly used type which is comprised of a solid metal body on which strain gauges have been secured to form a wheatstone bridge which delivers mV/V output.
Load cell output: = (Power supply * Rated output) * Load / Capacity
Rated output is normally within 1mV/V~3mV/V.
Power supply is normally within 3-15V.
Load / Capacity is within 0-1.
So the load cell output signal is normally within 0-45mV(-45mV...+45mV for bidirectional load cell).
Example one: Subminiature Compression Sensor FCCK-50N with 1.0mV/V rated output powered by 5V DC,the output range is 0~5mV.
Example two: Micro Compression Loadcell FCCK-100N with 1.0mV/V rated output powered by 3.3V DC,the output range is 0~3.3mV.
Load cell + Signal amplifier:
A signal conditioner can be used to convert mV signal into 0-5V/0-10V/4-20mA for easy signal processing.
Example one: Button Type Load Cell FCCK-500N working with amplifier FSC(0-5V)-24V, the load-voltage relationship will be 0-500N compression load VS 0-5V output.
Example two: Miniature Compression Transducer FCCK-200N working with amplifier FSC(4-20mA)-24V, the force-current relationship will be 0-200N compression force VS 4-20mA output.
